Raised
in 1929 at the southeast corner of Fifth Avenue and Eighth Street through
the partnership of two associated architectural firms is 1 Fifth Avenue.
The building is a visually stunning landmark that rarely goes unnoticed by
casual passers-by and brokers alike, due to its imposing presence over
Washington Square Park, and as anchor to the venerable Fifth Avenue. The
site gets high billing by tourists and natives, too, because it is located
amidst colorful Greenwich Village and the New York University campus,
popular destinations for both tourists and natives.
Twenty-nine glorious storys culminate in a single
central tower, and the building's facade of sleek brown brick is
tastefully accented with fine masonry and gargoyles. The typical floor at
1 Fifth Avenue is home to approximately ten units which are serviced by
three passenger elevators. Foyers in most apartments lead through to small
kitchens or living rooms. The building features a few studios, more than
60 one-bedrooms, and over 100 two-bedroom units.
| "Small
apartments-but what a pedigree! Downtown's best lobby."
